Tusk, 2007

Ricky Swallow

What remains when all flesh, desiccated, a husk, sinks to earth. When all muscle melts through bone sluicing whiteness, clean.

And the heart, no longer held as a chamber in a home, pumped dry, unfeeling.

What remains when bones held fast, clasp for dear life, dear heart, as two souls reach across space, through time, touch.

For love without end.
